The Börje recycling tube was developed in 2011 with the aim of increasing the recycling of bottles and cans that are covered by deposit or commonly called “bottle bills”. Börje is easy to mount and contributes to a better environment.

General

Sweden is among the best countries in the world when it comes to recycling bottles and cans that are covered by deposit through bottles bills. Other Nordic countries, Germany and some states in the US have also come a long way in terms of recycling and there is a clear trend globally to increase the recycling of aluminum and plastics.

Looking specifically at Sweden, about 90% of all bottles and cans covered by bottles bills are recycled every year. That is good, but it means that around 350 million bottles and cans are still not recycled – each year.

Although there are no statistics, it can be assumed that the recycling of bottles and cans consumed at home or at work are recycled to a high degree. On the other hand, the recycling of bottles and cans consumed in public places is significantly lower because they “disappear” in trash cans or in the nature as there is no dedicated to dispose of bottles and cans This is precisely the problem that the Börje recycling pipe solves!

The Börje recycling pipe tube was developed in 2011 with the aim of increasing the recycling of bottles and cans with deposit in public places. Börje has been put up in many municipalities in Sweden and Finland. The idea behind Börje is to avoid consumed bottles and cans being thrown in trash cans. Since Börje is clearly visible and placed next to the trash can it by passers-by can easily empty the recycling pipe without digging in the trash can.

Q&A

By recycling aluminum cans, you cut energy consumption when producing a new can by 95% compared if you produce it from the raw material. In 2019, the Swedish bottle bill system delivered a total saving equivalent to 180,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

In Sweden, more than 2 billion bottles and cans are recycled every year. This corresponds to about 85% of all bottles and cans sold. The 15% that is not recovered equals 32 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. Börje can help us reduce some of these emissions.

Yes, they will find a lot but not everything that is hidden further beneath in the trash cans. In addition, many trash cans have been constructed so that it is difficult for people collecting bottles and cans to reach what is inside. -Börje makes collecting bottles and cans easier.

Under the section “Mounting” you will see how the recycling cylinder can be easily mounted with screws on the back or with hose clamps. It takes a maximum of 5 minutes to mount.

The recovery cylinders are made of galvanized steel and they are very robust. The first recycling pipes, which were set up in central Stockholm more than 10 years ago, are still intact.

Since the bottles and cans are clearly visible, the recovery cylinder is emptied regularly.

The Börje recovery pipe has been designed so it should be obvious that the it is not a trash can. This can be reinforced with a text on Börje such as “RECYCLE CANS AND BOTTLES” (Basically “Pantamera” in Swedish)
